Jaakko Kungshamn

PhD Student, University of Turku

Dr. Kungshamn completed his MD in 2017 and his neurology specialization in 2025. He works as a neurologist at Turku University Hospital and as a clinical instructor teaching neurology to medical students at the University of Turku. His primary clinical interests include movement disorders, acute neurology, and dizziness. Jaakko’s PhD research focuses on movement disorders caused or alleviated by central nervous system lesions, with a particular emphasis on stroke lesions and the use of lesion network mapping. He aims to contribute to the development of novel and improved neuromodulation therapies and is equally motivated to advance clinical education. During his medical studies, Jaakko was actively involved in speksi (an improvisational student theater tradition). In his free time, he enjoys running, music, movies, games, literature, and spending time with family and friends.
